Animal-Based Natural Fabrics
Luxurious Fibres Rooted in Nature
Animal-based natural fabrics are derived from protein-rich fibres produced by animals—most notably wool, silk, and hair. Revered for their warmth, resilience, and natural sheen, these fibres form the backbone of many luxury textiles. Common sources include wool from sheep, silk from silkworms, alpaca fibre, and mohair from Angora goats. While niche options like Angora rabbit wool or Chiengora (dog hair) are less commercially used, they showcase the vast diversity of animal-derived fibres.
These natural fibres vary significantly in texture, softness, and strength—even within the same species. For instance, Merino wool is prized for its fineness and softness, while Cotswold wool is known for its coarser texture. This variability is a hallmark of authenticity, distinguishing them from uniform synthetic fibres. At RIPL, we responsibly source and develop animal-based fabrics that celebrate nature’s craftsmanship—ensuring our products combine elegance, comfort, and sustainable integrity.
